Dear
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We’re
excited to send out our first ever missions newsletter, and are so blessed to
know that all of you are interested in what the Lord is doing in our lives and
praying for us! A lot has been happening since we sent out our support letters
in April. Here’s a quick (or maybe not so quick!) update on some things that
have been going on:
-Shepherd’s Staff – www.shepsstaff.org
Our
mission’s pastor at Calvary Aurora, Dave Gordon, talked to us back in March
about looking into becoming part of Shepherd’s Staff’s ministry. Basically, Shepherd’s
Staff is an outgrowth ministry of Calvary Chapel Albuquerque and partners with
missionaries being sent into the field from their home church. Shepherd’s Staff
offers missionaries really important services, such as emergency evacuation
insurance, American health insurance, assistance in doing yearly taxes, tithing
incoming support, and many other things.
We
prayed a lot about Shepherd’s Staff and decided to apply. We had a Skype
interview with one of the ministry’s pastors (on Byron’s birthday – May 18th),
and we just found out a few days ago that we have been accepted into their
ministry! Praise the Lord!
We
have to finish a few more logistical things with Shepherd’s Staff, but once we’re
all squared away with them, all of our support will be going through them. Another cool things about Shepherd’s Staff is
that they make supporting missionaries really easy, and paperless!
-Emily’s
Diabetes
Emily
saw her diabetes doctor last month, and her doctor was really pleased with her
health (which is such a blessing). However, the doctor looked at Emily’s
insulin pump and told us that she needed to get a new one soon because her
current pump was “on its way out.”
This
was really overwhelming to us at first because an insulin pump usually costs
around $6,000 to $7,000 – and that’s money we really don’t have. But the Lord
is so faithful… We prayed for His will to be done, and He totally did an
awesome work! Emily’s doctor and her insurance began negotiating prices with
Medtronic (we didn’t even know that was possible), and after everything was
said and done, Emily received her brand new insulin pump on 5/29, costing a
grand total of $400. The Lord just keeps providing for us so that we have no
reason to not pursue missions in Ukraine.
-Finalized
Summer Itinerary
We
have locked down our dates for our summer travels. We’re leaving Denver on June
19th and will be returning July 16th. We’ll send out our
daily itinerary right before we leave so that you will know where we are and
what we’re doing while we’re in Ukraine. And if that Lord brings us to your
mind while we’re traveling, we would really appreciate prayers for the specific
things we’ll be doing in Ukraine this summer. Our hope is that everything we do
will be saturated in prayer.
Thank
you all for your prayers and interest in our lives! As we part ways until the
next newsletter update, we want to leave you with a verse:
“Oh,
taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” –Psalm
34:8
Indeed,
the Lord is good, and may He bless you as you continue to put your faith in
Him.
In
His Service,
Byron
and Emily
