Donetsk or Bust!

Hey friends and family!

Sorry for the long spans of "absense" on here... We hope to improve our blogging frequency once we settle into our new city.

Speaking of which, tomorrow, we leave Ternopil with the last of our belongings and take a 20 hour train to Donetsk - our new home. It's so crazy to think about how we were just preparing to leave Colorado for Ternopil, Ukraine last year around this time... And now, 1 week and 1 day shy of a year later, we're moving again. Only this time, we don't have an apartment, we have only a couple contacts in our new city, and we'll be living in a hostel until we find an apartment.

If someone told me a year ago that only a year after moving to Ternopil, Ukraine, I would be moving again to Donetsk, Ukraine, I think my heart would have given out from high blood pressure and fear. But, as always, the Lord is good, and He brings us through this different stages one step at a time. Each stage, growing us and stretching us, and teaching us how we can lean on Him and fully trust Him.

This last year, I've often been reminded of Hebrews 12:1-2, and have often shared it on here:

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

For me, literal running, and figurative running, have never been easy, but they're good for me in both senses. Moving to Ukraine (my first "hill to run up") was a huge stretch for me, but through moving and throughout this last year, taught me that He always keeps His promises and He showed me how deeply I can trust Him. And now, I'm moving to Donetsk (my second "hill"), and it's a little scarier than the initial move to Ukraine, but thanks to that first "hill," I'm totally ready and excited to put my faith in Jesus and follow Him to the ends of the earth (although, Donetsk isn't the ends of the earth, but you get my point).

Hebrews 12:1-2 is just so encouraging... And I can't wait to someday finish my race and, Lord willing, hear "Well done, good and faithful servant."

So, the next post on here will be done from our new city, Donetsk, Ukraine! The Lord is good and worthy of all praise!

Thank you guys so much for all of your prayers and support! We can never thank you enough! Please keep us in your prayers as we travel.

Keep Running,
Emily
