"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son" 1 John 5:11
Dear Friends and Family,
This Christmas season, there has been quite a bit of unrest among Ukrainians because of recent political decisions made by the government. Because of this, many of the places that have Christmas trees have forgone the traditional Christmas tree, and instead, used the tree to hang Ukrainian flags. We had the opportunity to go to Independence Square in Kiev and take a picture in front of the "Christmas Tree." As tensions are high here in Ukraine, we remember the importance of Christmas a little more this year. In light of recent events, the words of Isaiah 9:6-7 seem to have taken on a new significance:
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever."
As we pause to remember what Christmas means, we are reminded that no earthly establishment will ever be righteous, perfect or just, but many years ago, we had Jesus Christ, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, come to earth to bring us peace with God. And now, we eagerly await His return, when He will bring judgment, justice, and peace forever.
Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and support. May God bless you in this new year as you seek Him.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Byron & Emily
