Uganda Rundown

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of The Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in The Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58

Emily and I just finished reading through 1 Corinthians this week, and some of Paul's closing words really blessed and encoruaged me... 15:58 for example. How encouraigning it is to know that The Lord has called us to Uganda for this season and in this season, the work The Lord has laid before us will not be in vain, when we are in Him.

As we are still working through the pain from the situation in Donetsk, as we are still so homesick for that city - The Lord continues to teach me to be steadfast and immovable in what The Lord wills for our lives. He is teaching us to be all in and present where He has us for today - learning from where we've come from and hoping for the future - but focused on today and how He might use us today... In Uganda.

Uganda has been quite an expereince for us thus far. The ministry and our role as the intern overseers has kept us very busy. We are seeing how God is using us, how He is growing us. We're excited about the fruit that He is producing here in Ugdana - in our own lives, in the interns lives, and the ministry we are working with here in Entebbe.

I know we've been lacking in the blog posts. So I just wanted to give a brief overview of what we have been doing and what the ministry is like since we've returned to Uganda from Kenya a few weeks ago:

Our Team - At an African Wedding!
Interns: Our team of interns arrived the evening of the 15th. There are four interns aged 18-25. We were really happy for that month we spent in Guatemala in the middle of the interns' training, because that time gave us the chance to get to know them and spend some quality time with them, before they hit the ground running in Uganda. So, now we are at about week three with the team and we love seeing how God us using them, teaching them, and working in them. It's a blessing to be a part of their lives, as they expereince the mission field.

Calvary Chapel Entebbe: Our ministry with Potter's Field completly revolves around assisting the local church. All of our various ministries work alongside the church here. We spend 6 days a week in one form or another working with Calvary Entebbe and their school, Calvary Chapel Christian Academy. We have been blessed to meet the staff and come alongside them in their various ministries.

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy: The interns spend three days a week in the classrooms and homework club at the school. Emily and I haven't been able to spend as much time as we would like with the school, because our role continues to take us in many directions throughout the days - so we are still blessed by what The Lord has for us and how God is using our team in the school.

Potter's Field Kids Club: Every Saturday we help host an outreach for the children in the community. This invlolves games, activities, serving lunch, worship, and Bible studies. On average there are about 300-400 children that show up - meaning it is a very busy, yet fruitful day.
Working on the Farm
Nangombe Farm, Church and school outreach: Since we are right on Lake Victoria, we have the opportunity to reach out to many of the island communities and villages outside of Entebbe. We have been working closely with a Calvary church plant in Nangombe, which is about a 20 minute boat ride from Entebbe. The church is also in progress of creating a farm, which we've been working at once a week. Finally, we are able to go out in the small community and share the Word in the local schools. This ministry in Nangombe has been my favorite ministry here. I'm sure I will write more about it in future blog posts.
Heading off to School Outreach!
Apart from all the ministries with Calvary and Potter's Field, Emily and I have been stretched and grown in our roles of overseeing the intern household and walking with the team in their ministries. We love this group of interns so much and we feel so privileged to disciple them and walk through the daily life of a missionary with them.

So there is the brief rundown of what life has been like for us these past few weeks. Thank you all for keeping up with us, praying for us, emailing us, and supporting us. You guys are taking part in the fruit that God is producing here in Uganda!

Finally, we ask that you continue to steadfastly pray for Ukraine, for Donetsk and all of the Donbas region. Our hearts grieve daily for our friends, loved ones, and home. Please join us in praying for peace and restoration there.
Crossing Lake Victoria

God bless,
Byron
