Thanks to the Lord's unfailing faithfulness and provision, we are going ahead with the baseball camp that we have planned for June 10-14.
With that in mind, we have to ask you for extra prayers concerning this baseball camp. Byron and I keep going back and forth about whether it's going to be super awesome, or a complete disaster, because we have been met with SOOO much opposition (Spiritual warfare) for this camp.
Back in the States, we had a lot of people generously donate gear to us, but we still needed to buy some gloves to have enough stuff for the camp. It was a huge struggle to find enough inexpensive gloves for the camp (and actually, we're still not sure if we have enough gloves, we're just praying that the Lord will give the increase.).
Then, we finally decided we were out of time to find more baseball gear and had to pack (this was the night before we left for Ukraine). That's when we discovered that we couldn't fit all of our baseball gear in our baseball bag, even though we had the biggest, cheapest baseball bag we could find at Sports Authority. Of course, this was a huge bummer... So, we ended up having to check our baseball bag at the airport with the baseball bag inside of a giant laundry bag, tide off at the top with rope and a lock to keep it closed (that way we could fit the gloves, catcher's gear, bats, and balls all in one bag). So, now you can see why we were so amazing that all of our baseball stuff made it to Ukraine.
Then, as you already know, the baseball bag got lost in transit. But, thankfully, we have everything now... And that brings us to the last hurdle...
This week, Ternopil has been particularly rainy. Rainy enough to cause problems for our baseball camp if it continues like this. We've been starting to feel really concerned about the rain, and we're even starting to try to come up with alternative activities if we get a huge rainstorm during the camp.
The biggest problem with the rain is that it isn't consistently raining all day. It comes and goes. And when it comes, it's a serious downpour. We actually got caught in the rain today, while we were going for an evening walk. When the rain comes, there's nothing to be done except to wait and hope it ends quickly. As you can see, this type of rain really doesn't work well with a baseball camp.
There are other concerns with the rain too... For instance, we want to have a short time of worship and a devotional after every evening of the baseball camp (because we're committed to making sure everything we do points back to Jesus), and this will be really difficult to do if it's raining like crazy. Also, I'm kind of concerned about having my guitar at the field if it's going to be really rainy.
For all of these reasons, we find ourselves calling out to the Lord, and we ask that you call out to Him in agreement. We feel like this baseball camp is from the Lord, and we want to see it succeed. And how do we measure success? By having the opportunity to tell people about Jesus. And even if we only get to talk to one person about Jesus, it's been a huge success. But, we won't get to connect with the teenage boys that are planning to come to the camp if the camp never happens.
So, if you have a moment to lift up this camp, we'd appreciate it so much. We've dreamed about this camp and spent so much time planning, we just really want to see it all work out and see the Lord glorified.
Thank you guys so much for your prayers and support!
We love you lots!
Blessings,
Emily
P.S.
Here's a little video to show you the rain. Byron wasn't too happy that we got stuck in the rain. I didn't mind though :)
